Animals have been grazing dry areas

 LOWER RISK

Wet boggy areas of pastures are potential snail habitats. Dry pastures are less likely to support the type of mud snail required for the liver fluke life cycle, whilst there is little potential for the lifecycle to be completed in areas where livestock have not been grazed previously. Fluke may survive on pastures overwinter either as eggs or in infected snails, meaning pastures grazed by livestock the previous season can still be infective. Pastures grazed previously by sheep should be considered at risk for cattle and vice versa.
