Higher Risk

Yes, worming products for treating other diseases or as part of combination treatments are used.

Repeated use of worming products will speed up the development of resistance on farm. Worm and fluke combination products should only be used if there is a genuine risk of both types of parasite at the time of treatment. This is rarely the case. Worms can become resistant to clear injectable wormers if these are used frequently to target scab. Risk assess your flock to avoid sheep scab entry and/or consider more targeted treatments such as dipping. Discuss overall parasite control with your vet as part of your flock health plan.

The more wormer is used, the faster resistance will develop.
